Our Terms & Conditions

Put in place to protect everyone involved

The price quoted is subject to the main and equipotential earth bonding being in an adequate condition and there are no latent defects in the existing electrical installation that could cause problems to the new protective devices.

If the works are required to be carried out within fourteen days of the date of this estimate it will be necessary for you to forfeit your right to cancel within the fourteen day cooling off period in writing.

All work will be carried out to the Institute of Engineering and Technology Requirements for Electrical Installations, 18th Edition,  BS7671 (2022).

This latest Edition recommends the use of Surge Protection devices and Arc Fault Protection but these are quite expensive at the moment and would add at least £200 to the estimated cost if the consumer unit is replaced. This protection is not a requirement at present but your installation can be upgraded in the future when these become more reasonably priced.

Upon completion an Electrical Installations Certificate or a Minor Works Certificate detailing the works will be issued. A further Certificate complying with Part P of the Building Regulations, and registered with Ealing Council, will be issued by Elecsa Certification on behalf of the Electrical Contractors Association if the work falls within the scope of Part P.

Please find enclosed a copy of our Part P Approved Contractor Certification and a six year guarantee provided by the Electrical Contractors Association against the possibility that any works carried out by Better Heating and Lighting Ltd are found not to conform to BS7671(2022) and Parts 4 and 7 of the Building Regulations. In addition attached is a copy of our Which Trusted Traders certification.

This estimate is valid for one month from the above date.

All circuits worked with will be tested for continuity, polarity and insulation resistance during the course of the works and if any problems are found these will be reported.

Any items that are found to be contrary to BS7671(2022) during the course of the works will be reported and remedial works discussed and recommended.

Title of materials supplied only passes on full payment of the invoice arising from this estimate.

A deposit of thirty per cent of the total price including vat, is required upon acceptance of this estimate.

Full and complete payment is required within fourteen days of the date of the invoice. Any monies still outstanding after that date will be subject to interest at 3% above bank base rate per month or part thereof.

All prices quoted are subject to Value Added Tax at the current rate.

Any contract arising from this estimate is deemed to be made at my business address.

No responsibility is accepted for making good to the plaster and or decorations. Floor coverings maybe taken up where necessary but no guarantee is given that they will be replaced in the same condition as old lino will often crack if disturbed. Similarly other floor coverings, i.e. hardboard and carpets, will be replaced but again no guarantee is implied that they will be as good as originally laid.
